you can't help but slow down to see the wreckage.

The Internet has given us a lot of insight into stuff.  We can now look up random facts in the blink of an eye.  We can communicate across thousands of miles as if a person is right next to us at any moment in time.  The Internet opens things up.  And as a huge fan of all the production and creative behind the scenes of televison and movies, this has proved equally true.  You can find obscure old TV shows, you can watch interviews with actors from years past, you can read about motives for writing episodes, reasons for picking out certain music for certain scenes, and inspiration for plotlines.

And you can have a front row seat for the implosion of the #1 drama in America.

You can read the Creator of the shows thoughts on taking the show and everything that twenty million plus people tune in to see every week and you can read that she's decided to "burn it to the ground." You can listen to her podcast that is full of insults to the viewers of her tv show.  Insults that pretty much say if you have a happy life that includes marriage, family, and a career then we hate you.  Comments that say that it is okay and possible  for the male chief of surgery to have a full life that includes all the above but that it will never happen for the females of the show.  And then they further insult their viewers by saying the following:

S: And interesting. And true. You know. I don’t know anybody that has everything.

B: No, and the expectation that you can is one of the most strangely crippling things that we all…

S: And if you do have everything, and you are out there. We don’t like you.

B: Hee hee hee.

S: Hee hee hee. Stop watching our show.

I don't have it all.  At least not yet.  And I don't know that their definition of having it all really holds.  Everyone's definition is different.  I do know that their words deeply offended a lot of people that do have all those things and do watch thier show.  And those people may take thier advice and stop watching.  I may may take their advice and stop watching.  They insult their viewers, they insult women, they insult my intelligence, and then they talk about their lead male actor in a very creepy and inappropriate way.

It is just disturbing and makes me think that maybe the creator of Grey's Anatomy is mentally unstable and needs to seek professional help. In fact I have a new theory that she is somewhat stalkerishly obsessed with Patrick Dempsey/Derek Shepard and is destroying Meredith and the Mer/Der relationship because she wants him for herself.  I mean, I love me some Dempsey but I don't sit extremely close to the TV and rewind him saying the word love over and over.  That would make me a mental patient.  That would get me all kinds of restraining orders and mandatory counseling sessions.  THAT WOULD NOT GET ME THE RIGHT TO BE IN CHARGE OF  A TELEVISION SHOW...TWO TELEVSION SHOWS.  Is this really who ABC wants to represent their network?

It is one thing to be pissed that your favorite show's season finale sucked. It is one thing to be mad that your favorite couple broke up.  BUT it is entirely a whole new ballgame for the audience to be disappointed and then be INSULTED by the TV show's creator.  It is almost as if she's saying she can do whatever she wants and say whatever she wants and get away with it.  She thinks she can mock everyone who reads her views and listens to her podcasts and if they don't like it, then they can leave because she has more people just waiting to be taken with her views and thougts.  I hope to god her freaking show tanks next season and loses millions of views just so she'll shut the hell up.

That makes me sad, that I want what used to be my favorite show to fail.  But I think it has to fail in some capacity so that ABC will wisen up and clean house.  They have too much riding on this show and its spinoff to allow Shonda to get too far out of thier grips.  Maybe once they see what she is doing then they will remove the problem and allow the show to forth as it was before.  I'm not blaming the writers of the show.  I'm chosing to believe they are the victims of Shonda's vision.  They still have to write the show around the direction she sends them in.  She's the one burning it all down.  That is her idea.

I just do not see good things coming from this.  It is usually when the network fires the creator that the problems start, firing the creator is usually not the remedy.

I submitted the following to the contact us area of the ABC network. They only allowed 500 charactes so it is way shorter than I wanted but here you go: "In hearing the podcast from Shonda Rhimes, I and many fans were taken back by her blatent insults to the fans of this show. She went as far as to say that if people listening, "had it all" (career, family, children) then she hated them and they should stop watching the show.  I would think that ABC would be offended by her comments and her views on successful women with families.  I feel that she is alienating the viewers of your #1 show and that the network should not allow her to represent it."

Makes me sad. But if anyone should learn anything from the Internet is that no one has totally control over any entertainment medium now.  The fans, the people that watch and that bring in the revenue can act as a force and it can either bring you success (which Grey's has enjoyed) or it can bring your demise (which it is in jepardy of doing).
