So I was reading Eugene V. Debs' Canton Speech for class today. And this just seemed extremely fitting. Of course Debs is rolling over in his grave because I'm applying his speech to the Democratic Party...sorry E.V. Here you go:
"You need to know that as long as you are ignorant, as long as you are indifferent, as long as you are apathetic, unorganized and content, you will remain exactly where you are."

There was, is, and continues to be a progressive movement in this country. That doesn't change; it only becomes that much more important. You don't always win on the first try, or the second, or the third, or the twenty third. The main thing is you keep trying. Forty-eight percent of citizens in this country spoke their mind yesterday that they do not agree with this President. That doesn't change just because we lost. That means we fight all the harder to be heard.

So, take a deep breath....and another...NOW GET TO WORK! The midterms are less than two years away.

Random Thoughts:
*Barak Obama kicked Alan Keyes ass all the way back to Crazyland where he came from.

*Evan Bayh kicked.....does anyone even know the guy's name? Scott? Well anyway Bayh kicked his ass but good.

*We (Indiana District 46) have a new democratic state representative.

*We have a new Governor...and he's a hobbit. Seriously, the guys like 4 feet tall.

*Voting went from 71 to 500+ at Indiana State University's polling place.

*One exit poll showed that 69% of people under the age of 30 voted for John Kerry. Someday soon that 69% gets to be in charge.

*Yay for California passing stem cell research!

*Last night on MSNBC while there was a lull in the returns, Ron Regan was talking about exit polls saying how more Republicans said they voted on "moral issues." He had the best point that the problem is not with having moral values. He said the problem is with the definition of moral values, and since when did rights for all people and tolerance stop being moral values? I add to his list that moral values include not killing innocients, being honest, and protecting civil liberties.
