Okay. So um...that was...yeah. I'm confused. I watched it twice and I'm still confused.
Okay, first, lets get some of the little things I loved about the epsiode out of the way.
Okay, first, lets get some of the little things I loved about the epsiode out of the way.
1. I LOVED the fact that they cut the line from the Mer/Der scene at the beginning. In the sneek peek he said when telling her about the girl that he didn't keep secrets. That was a load of crap because, Hello? Secret wife? But they cut that line from the episode so it's all good.
2. I was happy to see Adele didn't die. I spent a good 15 minutes thinking she was gonna kick it because she told Meredith that she used to watch her when she was little. Everyone knows that any adult woman that goes near Meredith is endangering her life.
3. The chief's reasons for not making each one of them chief. And Derek turning down the offer.
4. Burke's vows. Even though he's manipulated Christina into this whole thing, I loved those vows. And I adored Addison's follow up to ditch Christina and marry her after hearing them. I knew though, the minute he said his vows that they were never going to get married.
5. Burke admitting he was trying to make Christina into someone she's not. Christina's break down at the end that seemed to be part relief and part devastation.
6. Joe and Walter and their babies.
7. "Worse case scenario, I sleep with your wife in ten years." Hee!
8. Christina: "Did you pass?" Meredith: "You bet your married booty, I did."
9. Christia's eyebrows. Her coming up to Meredith with no eyebrows and curlers and writing all over her hand was like the best visual ever.
10. The Speech. Derek's return to McDreamy-ness. More on that in a moment.
But I'm confused. I mean I get that we are supposed to believe that Meredith saying the wedding was over meant that her and Derek were over. I do get that. That was the cliffhanger. BUT I just, did it REALLY mean that? Should I be shopping for a new show to watch? Cause she has to say it to his face for me to believe it. They deserve to say it to each others faces, I deserve to see them say it to each others faces.
But I mean I get what they are doing because the "Pick me, chose me, love me" thing from second season was really supposed to be the season one finale. They are trying to do that now because Derek's speech was his "pick me, chose, me love me." I actually thought for a minute that that was what he was going to say. That speech I think was a long time coming. he had to have that speech. And if you take his words in the context of Post lucid Ellis then his speech was dead on. She leaves him, she doesn't let him in. Yeah that is right. He is there and she leaves. But the context of what is supposed to be a full year then...he left her and he walked away from her too. And he's the one that ACTUALLY left her and ACTUALLY walked away. So...I guess I understand he's coming at this in the context of Mer/Der v. 2.0 but I think she sees it as a whole picture. She was very quick to jump to the conclusion that he didn't love her anymore. I think that the picking the wife thing is very much still in Meredith field of vision whereas Derek has tried to get past that. She has abandonment issues and a big part of that is because he abandoned her. He NEEDS to acknowledge his role in her issues. And she NEEDS to acknowledge the fact that she gave up and she left him when she drowned. And that she does walk away when the bad stuff happens and that she doesn't let him in. And she needs to tell him how she feels and that she feels the way that he does because she hasn't done that in a long time.
A tiny part of me wishes that she would tell him it is over just to do to him what he did to her. I kinda like that Derek is in Meredith's Season 2 shoes. Maybe they need to break each other so that they can fix this in the end. But the bigger part of me not set on revenge wants her to put herself out there and let it go right for her for once. She needs to take that leap and see that she doesn't need Christina to get her happily ever after for her to believe in them. She needs to leap and see that she can make her own happily ever after. I hope that is where they will go next season. I think everyone else has enough drama to make up for Meredith and Derek getting to be happy. Meredith especially needs happy right now.
So, what is left to figure out besides this weird, did she break up with him thing...
1. Is George Really Really leaving. I mean it would be fun to see George as an intern again. Grey's loves interns so much that they made dragged a year out for three seasons, this would just be a way to keep that going. Besides, George could dump Callie and Izzie and finally get a Grey girl, Lexie Grey (who he is sure to sleep with in Episode 18 of season 4, Manwhore George).
2. Lexie Grey, dun dun DUN! Gee, I didn't see that one coming. I was so excited for Addison to get a spin off for two reason other than the fact that she rocks. 1) The cast needs thinned out, there are too many storylines. 2) No Addison means her and Derek would never be an issue again. Well freaking Lexie Grey, I hope you get a spin off because you are adding a story line and a cast member and if you so much as touch Derek with a ten foot pole on fire, I will MAIM you. I am serious when I say that the day Derek and Lexie get it on or even think about it, is the day I quit watching this show. Derek's spiel to the Chief about starting over from the beginning makes me worry about this. I'm afraid Mer's going to dump him and he is going to officially meet Lexie and see her as his do-over.
Give Lexie to Mark. That would be awesome. Seriously, that would be great.
Oh and yeah, why wouldn't the chief tell Meredith her sister was accepted into the Seattle Grace program?
3. Burke. Is Burke gone for good? I mean if I have to lose George or Burke then it better be Burke, I better still have George. Cause you know why one of those two would be leaving and since it was IW's fault then it better be his character.
4. Addison, yeah she is leaving that is no big secret. I just hope that she gets to say goodbye in the first episode or two of next season's Grey's. An Addison/Derek goodbye scene would be awesome. A Meredith/Addison goodbye scene is a must. I do not know why but I think it would be amazing if somehow Addison fixed Meredith and Derek. I just...it would come full circle if she was the one to set them on the path to each other.
Things I really do not care about:
1. Is Alex going to go after that girl? Umm...I don't care.
2. Will George pick Callie or Izzie? Well if he follows the rehashed plotline then he'll pick Callie and Izzie will binge on tequila. Oh, wait, I don't care. Maybe Callie and Izzie will dump George and get together.
2. I was happy to see Adele didn't die. I spent a good 15 minutes thinking she was gonna kick it because she told Meredith that she used to watch her when she was little. Everyone knows that any adult woman that goes near Meredith is endangering her life.
